California recently passed legislation to address the foreclosure crisis. The revised foreclosure laws mandate that lenders go to great lengths to modify their mortgage in an effort to keep homeowners in their homes. The new foreclosure laws also will limit the protections for tenants affected by landlords' foreclosures and imposes duties on foreclosing servicers to maintain properties.
